Message Though I have to admit... I slept through most of Physics III (Optics). I don't believe you are correct in saying that light "slows down" as it passes through matter. The speed of light, c, is in fact a constant. The reason that light might appear to slow down, or at least take longer to get from point A to point B is because it get reflected and bouces off of the matter. This causes the light to travel a longer path and therefore "slow down". Hence, when the light exits the matter, it will again be traveling in a straight line at the same speed it has always been traveling at, c.

Okay, for somebody who remembers physics, is this correct or am I pulling this out of the depths of my ass?
